CA - FEM coupling for heart modelling

Cellular automata (CA) are used for simulation of action potential wave propagation in heart tissue. Their results serve as an input to our FEM code. The finite elements have special "muscle" material (fibres) which can generate the active contraction depending among other circumstances on an activation level. The activation level can be observed from the action potential of the tissue.
